Peer observation 2
On Monday 12 March 2017. She did a math lesson about numbers from 11 to 15.
The outcomes were K2NS1 states the forwards number sequence from 1- 20 in Arabic and English, K2NS3 represent quantities from 1- 20 using concrete materials and pictures.
This lesson was for KG2 students. the lesson was meant to teach the students the numbers from 11 to 15.
In the lesson, she prepared four centers and one extra activity. She introduces the lesson to the students and showed a PowerPoint for them.
She played ‘Counting 1 - 15 - Children's song’. After that, she explained the centers and modeled the activities.
In the first center, (IB PYP Activity) the students have numbers card each card will have a different number from 11-15 and the students put the right amount of rocks in the card.
In the second center, the students have a different card that includes different numbers from 1- 5. The students counted the object first then put the clips on the right numbers that describe the amount of object.
In the third center, she asked the students to choose ice-cream cones with different numbers between 6 – 12 and the students use the balls to represent the numbers in the cone.
In the fourth center, she asked the students to draw a table from 1-7 and I asked them to use the cotton to represents the numbers.
The fifth centers, she gave the students a paper that has the number from 11 to 15 and I asked them to use the objects on the table to represent the numbers.
The activities were differentiated and linked to the outcome and the activities based on the students’ level and their ability to understand the numbers.
She did not create an active engagement to the students. During the lesson, she was sitting with the focus group and my MST and the Arabic teacher were working with students and asking questions about what the students were doing and assessing them. (assessment is important to the teacher to assess students and know if they understood or not)
Area for development
Eiman needs to work in:
focus on all students not just on master students.
Active engagement it is importance to engage all students in learning.
Assessment, you need to assessment students to check if they understood or not.
In this page, you will see the details about Peer Observation which I did in T.P
