Task Description
Across this project, I will provide and present a storybook for KG students in Al Awaeel School in Al Yaher and then to create a range of supporting activities through utilizing story sacks and other props.
Storybook (pic)
Part One:
The story chosen was called, ”I am Emirati“ where it was by Lama Bihsoon and the illustrator was called Deyala Zada.
The genre of the story is informational non-fiction story. That’s because the story includes more and more information that are connected with the UAE as the flag, the seven Emirates, the famous places in each Emirate, the currency and that all is factual things and also that included the currency of the UAE. (Bahsoon, 2014)
Year of publication: 2014
Summary of the book:
The book provides various information concerning the UAE facts including
the flag of the country, what people wear, the seven emirates, and all what
is connected with the UAE but in a simple way. (Bahsoon, 2014)
Video of reading the book
Story sack/ props for book:
I used the book and set up a corner linked with the theme including everything that is connected with the country’s culture and even included the pictures of Emirates Sheikhs and the flag where there was a decoration using the colors of the UAE flag and even things were being used in the past. The mill, the pot, Mahafa, Dallalah, etc.
Setting the scene
Description with props, description and pictures to show how the ‘scene’ of the book will be set up in class:
At the scene where I performed my activities it was prepared well. First, I prepared a cornet including, a traditional Emirati sitting corner in the library. I put things related to Emirati culture as Dallah, Tahonah (Mill) Mahafa (like a flag). There were two dolls; one wore an Emirati male dress while the other wore an Emirati female dress (Candara and Burga for female). On the right corner of, I placed a puppet theater.

Part B
I implemented STEAM Activity. The work done in all the STEAM activity was a group work in various subjects such as Math, Science, technology, art and engineering.
Engineering:
Explain
Students build their own bridge for solving the steam problem
to help Rashed, Tom, and the camel to cross the mud?
Science
KM2: Compare different types of paper through creating craft projects.
Explain
I asked children to bring different types of paper, which they find in th environment to create something connected with their environment and of the things they, use at home. Such as Tissue box, bottles cover,
aluminum boxes, plastics and other cartoons, etc.
Math
K2NS10: Manipulate UAE money and simulate making purchases.
Explain:
I created a game for the students called UAE board game. In it, I placed natural resources that students gathered and brought from their homes. I then divided the board into sections where I put in each envelope Emirati currency and then put a box including money inside and I called it bank. The students throw the dice and then check the number of dots gained if the child got two dots, then he moves to the second picture and then gets the picture and get it out and then says the name of the Emirate that included in the story. Next, gets the money out and buy the natural resources. Then to place the resources in the trolley and the money into the bank.
Art
Explain - Students create the seven Emirate through working in a group work together where I divided the class into seven groups according to the seven Emirates.

Technology
Explain: Students use the technology card through which the student can
record his voice and also listen to what he recorded.
Steam activities
I did two activities with students. The first activity was in front of class where I created a board UAE game. In this activity, children managed to play the game in order to buy materials for the natural resources to build a landmark for each Emirate in the UAE.
The second activity was the STEAM problem where I told them a story through using three characters (Tom a foreigner, a local Rashid and a camel), then a box of mud, a third box for the resources for solving the problem. Then I told them the theme of the story (Rashed wants to take Tom to the farm (Al Ezba) On their way to the farm, they faced a problem where there were mud and they wanted to cross but they couldn’t. The question was how can we help them to cross this mud? I asked them to think and then talk. Then, I asked them to try to solve the problem and they thought and showed the solutions. At that time, we made a brainstorm with children and then I worked with one group and worked with them to record the video.
